my name is Paula Columbia College of Columbia University Newsela Romero senior St John's Prep now be going to Cornell University in the fall just bring an end to like a disease one thing that I've always wanted to do is help out the world in any way I can and using computer science specially in an ivy league is going to help me to complish Michaels faster using my experience as an immigrant having a degree in computer science allows you to take the tools in your hand instead of waiting on other people to step your future up number one best thing that has helped me was the people I'm surrounded by I can friends and teachers like if it wasn't for them pushing me to apply to Cornell or pushing me to be to think that I'm better than what I am I wouldn't have a got it in and now I'm going to be sending Cornell University and that's something that I'm very happy that I accomplished what I have learned about the college process find colleges is that do things that you love to do and when you're writing an application and they ask you what are you passionate about you don't have to think twice you just start writing icing got average person smashing you have a good for ACC in sports activities made me the person that is college one was be a hard worker because they push you to the Limit. And even Beyond and if it wasn't for st. John's I wouldn't push myself in anything let alone in homework or an exam the teachers here are Beyond helpful and general they were always if I ever felt really stressed about an exam they would tell me to calm down they would go over the material with me tell me to never give up I learn to improve my work ethic St John's you kind of the effort you put in like you see the results of that I've learned to be a better student at better study areas all those things have finished my homework on time management Florida teachers and students my grandmother and I emigrated from Ecuador throughout the years I have learned to embrace that part of me because I know that having an ax that doesn't Define you it shows that more than just one ethnicity it shows that you're more than just one category will set restrictions on you and they will put limitations or labels on you but it's your responsibility to make sure that those don't weigh you down international student I think it's the place to be because everyone is so friendly and it's not like you're going to come and no one's going to know your name or not want to be friends with you you don't have to be afraid of that here like everyone is friendly and accepting and teacher students will help you throughout anything it doesn't matter where you come from we're just all want to meet in Alaska International students call me if you get a USDA office take the risk I think it's worth it feel like yourself in another culture putting us up with other people like a very important earlier you have the more she took the first sight give me respect for My Success it was a part of my mentor is my teacher is my friends even because friends really support you so I would just say grab a strong support system and the doors Shogun Trail Dust finale
