Red Storm Athletics

Whether a novice or an accomplished varsity athlete, St. John's Prep students stay active, engaged, and healthy.  It is easy to make athletics and physical fitness a regular part of your experience at St. John's Prep. In fact, many of our students are involved in some athletics—and nearly everyone joins in cheering on their friends and classmates and showing  RED STORM Pride.

Philosophy

St. John's Prep student-athletes excel in the classroom while leading in interscholastic competition.  St. John's Prep believes in empowering student-athletes who can succeed on the court, excel in the classroom, and engage in the community. Therefore  SJP, athletes are held to a very high standard. The athletics department is committed to the many additional student resources on campus to help them maintain the SJP standard of excellence.

Our goals include helping all our students achieve academic excellence, foster a community of lifelong learners, equip students to meet the challenges of a changing world, and encourage our students to develop responsibility for themselves and their community. Athletics provide an opportunity to extend the values and ideals developed in the classroom and constantly strive towards developing a well-rounded individual.

Message From the Athletic Director

Interscholastic athletics is an essential component of the educational experience at St. John's Prep. The purpose of our athletic program is to promote an opportunity for the student-athlete to learn and grow in ways not available in a traditional classroom setting. We are preparing our students for life. We hold our students to a very high standard for representing themselves, the St. John’s Prep community, and their families.

Student-athletes at St. John's Prep strive for good sportsmanship, develop self-confidence, learn personal responsibility and respect and achieve success in a competitive environment. Our athletes are expected to develop respect for others, exhibit self-control, assume responsibility for their actions to be modest in victory and gracious in defeat. We believe the more our young men and women become involved in athletics, the greater contribution we can make in developing better citizens.
