Science Olympiad is a prestigious nationwide competition that consists of twenty-odd events that span a great number of scientific disciplines and branches. Known primarily for its competitive standards and challenging curriculum, St. John's Prep is striving to add another notch onto its academic belt by expanding into the Science Olympiad scene.

Science Olympiad offers St. John's Prep students the ability to blend their love of science with research and creativity. Using their hands and minds, the final product is a brilliant display of the students' scientific knowledge in the areas of physics, chemistry, biology, robotics, earth science and much more.Tournament events include hands-on laboratory tasks, traditional paper and pencil examinations, and devices engineered by students according to a prescribed set of specifications.  During competition, students do not only recall knowledge of science concepts, but they also use process skills for scientific inquiry and data analysis. In their first year of competition,  students excelled in the winter competition taking home  several ribbons and medals.
