School Closing Policy

Diocesan and City Guidelines: St. John's Prep aligns with the Diocese of Brooklyn and the City of New York for school closures due to hazardous weather, health, and/ or safety conditions. If the Diocese announces the closure of all elementary and high schools or if the mayor closes the public schools, St. John's Prep will follow suit.

Individual School Closure: Additionally, St. John's Prep may independently decide to close. The school employs the One Call Now System to notify parents/guardians promptly. This system utilizes email, text, and phone calls to relay information about school closings, delays, and other pertinent updates. To ensure receipt of notifications, parents/guardians are encouraged to maintain up-to-date contact details with the Programming Office at Ext. 240.

Communication Channels: Any announcement regarding school closure will be prominently displayed:

 On our school website.
On our School Plus Portal account

Regents Exams during Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather on days scheduled for State Regents Exams, the presumption is that exams will proceed as planned. Specific announcements indicating the postponement or cancellation of these exams will be communicated separately.
