Speech and Debate Team

The Speech and Debate Team (Forensics Team) offers students an excellent opportunity to develop their public speaking and presentation skills. Students are afforded opportunities to refine their speaking and writing skills and hone lifelong confidence. Any student with an interest in speech, writing, poetry, literature, or drama is encouraged to join the Speech and Debate Team at any time.

As a member of the Brooklyn Queens Catholic Forensic League, the St. John’s Prep Speech and Debate Team competes against other Catholic schools in the BQCFL in speech, debate, and student congress tournaments. St. John’s Prep Speech and Debate Team members have qualified for the National Catholic Forensic League Championship in Washington, D.C.
