COMPANY MATCHING GIFTS

Your contribution to the Prep may qualify for a matching gift from your employer.  Some employers honor spouse and retiree contributions as well, (please check with your personnel office.)

STOCKS AND SECURITIES

Long-term, appreciated stocks and securities are almost always an excellent way to contribute to our school.  Gifts of securities can be used to support the Annual Fund or to establish planned giving arrangements and provide a double benefit to you - a current income tax deduction and avoidance of capital gains taxes.

Recognition for Support to our Annual Fund

Founders Circle: The Founders' Circle was created to honor individuals who have generously supported St. John's Prep/Mater Christi financially throughout the years.  It is the Prep's most prestigious donor recognition organization.  Benefactors whose lifetime giving to the school surpasses $25,000 attain membership in one of the lifetime giving societies and are honored with special invitations to school events and a donor recognition dinner during the year.  Founders' Circle members also receive special recognition in the "Founders' Hall" as an expression of our gratitude for their outstanding support.

Lifetime Giving Societies:

Moore Society $100,000+
Loughlin Society $50,000+
McEntegart Society $25,000+

Through the Lifetime Giving Societies, the School Honors the leadership and extraordinary support of alumni, and friends.  Private donors have a vital role in shaping the School's future, and the Societies provide the means to recognize its most generous supporters.  As an inaugural member of the Founders' Circle, individuals provide a foundation of financial support for the current student body of St. John's Prep.  These funds collectively support scholarship and endowment and necessary capital improvements.

Founders Circle Giving Societies

Moore Society: Very Reverend John W. Moore, C.M. served as the much beloved President of the College from 1906 to 1925.  In 1927, the Moore Memorial Building located on the Lewis Avenue campus was named in his memory for his tremendous leadership of the college and dedication to the Prep. Named in memory of the Very Reverend John W. Moore, C.M., the Moore Society honors those who contribute one gift or a series of gifts totaling $100,000 or more to St. John's Preparatory.

Loughlin Society: In 1865, Reverend John Loughlin, First Bishop of Brooklyn, wanted to open a day school "where the youth of the city might find the advantages of a solid education and where their minds might receive the moral training necessary to maintain the credit of Catholicity."  In memory and recognition of this extraordinary man, the Loughlin Society honors his vision and those individuals whose lifetime contributions total $50,000 or more to the school.

McEntegart Society: Bishop Brian J. McEntegart, Fourth Bishop of Brooklyn, was primarily responsible for creating Mater Christi High School.  In his letter to the first graduating class he stated that it was in the summer of 1959 he placed his plans, his hopes and his dreams for this new school in the hands of the Mother of Christ.  His memory is honored in the McEntegart Society, which recognizes individuals who have made lifetime contributions to the school totaling $25,000 or more.
