The Spanish Dance Team, founded in 1995 at the request of Modern Dancer Johanna Peralta, has performed Salsa, Bachata, Mambo, Merengue, and Cumbia over the past twenty years, and has received many awards at competitions. Each year the team performs at the Spring Concert, the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, International Festivals, and at the Ninth Avenue International Festival in Manhattan.  Although membership in the performing group is competitive, instructional workshops are held weekly during the first semester, and open to all students who wish to learn. Professional  “Salsa-on-two”  instruction is provided by Salsera and Yamulee Showcase Competitor.
