Curriculum

Students take a full course of study including four years of Religion, English, Social Studies and Physical Education; at least three years of Mathematics, and Science and two years of Foreign Language. Credits taken in Health, Fine Arts, Business courses and a variety of electives round out the students four year program.

Advanced Placement or College Level courses have been offered in English, Biology, European History, Psychology, Spanish and Calculus.

The Enrichment Program provides courses in Reading, Writing and Mathematics to students in need of additional help in these areas.

The Christian Service Program, offered through the Religion Department, gives students the opportunity to take part in service programs in the local community while fulfilling their requirement of a fourth year of religion.

Guidance Department counseling is available to all students when choosing courses and assistance is given each student in preparing for college or a career.

A UNIQUE ACADEMIC PROGRAM

A unique aspect of the St. John’s Prep Curriculum is that a student’s program can be tailored to his or her ability.

Four Year High School Program

The four year high school program provides for a structured, well balanced, and vigorous curriculum in both academic and business areas, preparing students for a New York State Regents Diploma. Courses are offered at various levels of difficulty in an effort to enrich students on a variety of levels of ability. Students can earn college credit through participation in the Advanced Placement Program or College Extension Program offered in cooperation with St. John’s University.

Baccalaureate Program

Qualified students may enroll in a seven-year program which leads to a high school diploma and baccalaureate degree from St. John’s University.
